The Government of the Union of Myanmar (Government) is in the process of planning telecommunications sector reforms in order to: (i) increase by tenfold access to quality telecommunication services; (ii) make services affordable for its citizens; and (iii) develop the required Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) infrastructure in Myanmar that will facilitate inclusive growth and poverty reduction.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) is undertaking a phased approach to achieve its stated targets for the telecommunications sector.
The Government has received support under the World Bank financed Telecommunications Sector Reform Project to implement the Spectrum Management System. Posts and Telecommunications Department (Telecom Regulatory Authority) will be the lead implementing agency for this component.
PTD has already implemented four Monitoring Stations in Yangon and Mandalay and one Control Station in Nay Pyi Taw. However, PTD has yet to establish the Spectrum Management System which requires to integrate and best mix of smooth operation with existing Monitoring System and, to increase the efficiency for all spectrum management processes and to mitigate the interference issues among the spectrum usage.
In this regards, PTD would like to invite the persons or organizations, who are interested to set up the automated spectrum management system, to make a presentation for the spectrum management solutions in greater details between 6 December, 2018 and 14 December, 2018. The interested party shall communicate with the PTD for the presentation meeting not later than 3 December, 2018.
